Custom Family Reunion Shirts for Every Generation
A Bronx family came to New York Rush Shirts for 91 custom reunion shirts in sizes ranging from toddler 3T to adult 3XL.
We used coordinating royal blue Port & Company cotton tees with the same white front design. The artwork was resized for the smaller garments, ensuring every shirt maintained a consistent, balanced appearance.

The Challenge
Family reunion orders often include a much wider size range than standard event shirt orders.
For this project, the family needed toddler, youth, and adult shirts in one coordinated color.
The order included sizes from 3T through 3XL, so the selected shirt had to be available across multiple garment categories. The artwork also needed special attention. A design sized for an adult shirt would be too large for a toddler or smaller youth garment.
The Solution
Royal blue was used across the toddler, youth, and adult garments to create a unified appearance. Each shirt featured the same white screen-printed design on the front.
A smaller version of the artwork was prepared for the youth and toddler garments. This kept the design balanced while maintaining the same overall look across all 91 shirts.
The final order included:
- Two toddler shirts
- Nine youth shirts
- Eighty adult shirts
- Extended sizes through 3XL
- A consistent royal blue and white color combination
- Adjusted artwork for smaller garments
Customer Journey
The customer provided the estimated quantity, shirt color, size breakdown, and front imprint requirements.
2. Garments Were Matched Across Age Groups
Coordinating Port & Company styles were selected for toddlers, youth, and adults. This allowed the shirts to share the same royal blue color and general appearance.
3. The Size List Was Organized
The order was separated into toddler, youth, and adult categories, with extended adult sizes up to 3XL.
4. The Artwork Was Prepared
The white front design was reviewed for screen printing. A smaller version was prepared for garments that could not accommodate the adult print dimensions.
5. The Order Entered Production
After payment and artwork approval, the order was scheduled within the standard production window.

Results That Matter
Using related Port & Company styles helped maintain a consistent look across the complete size range. Adjusting the artwork for smaller garments also prevented the design from appearing oversized.
The project shows why a successful family reunion order involves more than collecting a total quantity. Garment availability, size categories, artwork dimensions, and extended sizes must be reviewed before production.
Why Family Reunion Shirts Are More Complicated Than They Look
Toddler, Youth, and Adult Sizing
Toddler, youth, and adult sizing should be listed separately. A youth large does not fit exactly like an adult small, even if the two garments appear similar.
Ask each relative to select a size from the correct product size chart. Clearly label every selection as toddler, youth, or adult.
Different Body Types and Fit Preferences
Two relatives who normally wear the same size may prefer completely different fits. One may want a fitted shirt, while another may prefer additional room.
Sharing the product size chart before collecting sizes can reduce uncertainty. When someone is between sizes, the larger option is often the safer choice.
Who Collects the Sizes
Choose one person to manage the complete size list.
When multiple relatives submit separate lists, sizes can easily be missed or counted twice. A shared spreadsheet or online form gives the family one organized record.
Choosing a Color Everyone Will Wear
The shirt color should work for different ages and be available across the complete size range.
Some colors may be available in adult shirts but not in matching toddler or youth styles. Confirm inventory before making the color part of the reunion theme.
How Many Extras to Order
Families should consider ordering approximately 5% to 10% more than the confirmed attendance count.
Extra shirts can cover last-minute guests, incorrect size selections, or relatives who want another shirt after the event. Adult medium, large, and XL are usually practical sizes for extras.
Cotton vs. Performance Shirts
Cotton shirts are soft, familiar, and suitable for most casual family reunions.
Performance shirts may be better for outdoor gatherings, sports activities, or events taking place in hot weather. These garments dry quickly, but their fit and feel can differ from standard cotton tees.
Whether to Print Names on the Back
Individual names can make the shirts more personal, but they add another level of coordination.
Every name must be spelled correctly and matched to the proper garment and size. Families with tight timelines or limited budgets may prefer a shared back design featuring the family name, reunion date, or location.
How Much Time Should You Allow?
Families should also allow time to collect sizes, confirm inventory, prepare the artwork, and review the proof. Starting two to three weeks before the reunion provides a more comfortable planning window.
If you are working with a tighter deadline, reach out anyway. Depending on the order, artwork, production schedule, and inventory, we are often able to help faster.
Rush availability must be reviewed and approved before the order is placed.
Common Family Reunion Shirt Planning Issues
Waiting Until Everyone RSVPs Before Ordering
Waiting for every relative to respond can delay the order. Set a firm size deadline and include a few extra shirts for late attendees.
Guessing Everyone’s Size
Do not estimate sizes based only on someone’s age or appearance. Send each person the correct size chart and allow them to choose.
Using Low-Resolution Facebook Photos
Photos downloaded from Facebook, screenshots, and images copied from text messages may not be suitable for printing.
Send the original photo, logo, or design file whenever possible. Your printer should review the artwork before it enters production.
Choosing a Shirt Color Before Checking Inventory
Garment inventory changes regularly, especially during the busy spring and summer event seasons.
Confirm that the selected color is available in toddler, youth, adult, and extended sizes before announcing the final choice.
Forgetting Babies and Toddlers
The youngest relatives are often missed when the initial size list is created. Ask specifically whether infant bodysuits or toddler shirts will be needed.
Forgetting Extended Sizes
Review the complete size range before selecting a shirt. Some garments stop at 2XL, while others are available in 3XL, 4XL, or larger sizes.
Not Ordering Extras
A few extras can help when someone brings a guest, chooses the wrong size, or damages a shirt before the event.
Submitting Individual Names Too Late
Personalized names require additional production time and careful organization. Submit a final spreadsheet and verify every spelling before approving the order.

Why We Enjoy Family Reunion Orders
Some reunions celebrate a milestone birthday or anniversary. Others bring together relatives from across New York, across the country, or around the world. In many cases, family members are seeing one another for the first time in years.
Matching shirts create a shared identity for the event and give everyone something they can keep afterward.
These gatherings are meaningful, and it is rewarding for our team to play a small part in bringing them together.
ROI & Long-Term Value
A well-made shirt becomes a reminder of the gathering and the relatives who attended. Family members can continue wearing it long after the reunion, especially when the design is simple and the garment color is easy to wear.
Keeping the approved artwork and product details on file can also make future reunion orders easier. The design can be updated with a new year, location, or theme without rebuilding the entire project.
